In the spring of 2026, Michif language learners, mentors, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers gathered together in Banff. Through stories of cultural reconnection and intergenerational learning, participants reflected on the importance of language as a source of identity, belonging, and pride. United by a commitment to future generations, mentors and language learners are working together to ensure the longevity of the language.

Bezhig miigwan calls upon us to see each Survivor coming to the NCTR as a single eagle feather and to show those Survivors the same respect and attention an eagle feather deserves. It also teaches we are all in this together — we are all one, connected, and it is vital to work together to achieve reconciliation.
